Survey

We made a survey to several people regarding the research questions. Here are the statistics on the answers they said.

What’s your name?

We begin our survey by asking participants their name.

Age

As we can see in figure 1, most of the people interviewed are 18 years old. Followed by 19 years old and finally 16 years old.

As you can see in Figure 2 most of our contestants are currently in college.

Type in your career

The participants that answered that were in college, typed their carrer they are studying, like it is shown in Figure 3, demonstrating the are a big variety of carrers.

What is poverty?

Talking about what it means poverty, everybody had their own definition about it, so with all answers we can conclude that poverty is related to money and with the lack of basic resources and lifestyle needs just like food, education and home.

Do you think poverty matters in the daily world?

Poverty has a big impact on our daily lives and world, or that is why almost everybody think as Figure 4 shows.

How does poverty can affect your life?

We wondered how our participants think poverty can affect their own lifes, even though they had too many different opinions, some of them agreed that economy is the chain factor it can affect them.

Other people think that poverty is not affecting only them, it is affecting their country too in an alarming way that the consequences can get back to them again.

Do you believe there’s poverty in your country?

We wanted to know our respondents opinion about if they believed there is poverty in their country, and even there was at least one person who did not think there is in her country, the rest of them believe it exist poverty in their country as Figure 5 shows.

Which image do you think represents more your definition of poverty?

We decided to involve emotionally and critically our participants in this survey, so we made them choose between 3 images that showed poverty, and they had to decide which one they think represented more their own definition of poverty. After that, we asked them why they chose that image.

The majority chose the first image, like is shown in Figure 6, and almost all agreed that it has a big impact in your perspective because of the children’s appearance.

What’s the main factor that causes poverty?

In the next question we made the respondents think deeply about what they think is the main factor that cause poverty. Almost all of them think that the main factor involves economy, lack of education and government issues, like it is shown in Figure 7.

What could you do in order to reduce poverty?

Finally, we asked our respondents what they could do in order to reduce poverty, and the majority agreed that the best way to reduce poverty is increasing the number of employments,  raising funds and to donate to charity.
